One of the many things we love about Rockland County is that it's absolutely beautiful all year long. With tons of great parks, water views, scenic landscapes, the winter is a good time to get out of the house and snap some Instagram-worthy photos around the area. The natural beauty of Rockland County attracts people from all over the world, and we're lucky enough to see it in our backyard.
Our real estate agents love getting out for a winter hike, so we've taken note of some of the most scenic places around Rockland County where you're sure to snap an Instagram winner. Here are some of our favorites:
- Pierson Park - 238 W Main St, Tarrytown, NY 10591
If you're looking to catch a scenic view of the Hudson River and the Tappan Zee Bridge, we recommend a visit to Pierson Park. You'll find miles of well-maintained picturesque paths that run parallel to the river and provide stunning views. There is even a boardwalk and a viewing platform. After you snap some pics, take a nice hike on the trails.
- Nyack Beach State Park - 698 N Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960
While you won't find a beach at Nyack Beach State Park, you will find peaceful views of Rockland Lake and The Hudson River. When surrounded by snow, Rockland Lake is a sight to see, and a nice picture can earn you quite a few social media likes. Just a short drive from Nyack homes for sale, this 76-acre park is also a popular cross-country skiing destination.
- Kingsland Point Park - Tarrytown Light-Kingsland Point Path, Sleepy Hollow, NY 10591
Nothing is quite as Instagram-worthy as a lighthouse, and you'll find great views of the Sleepy Hollow Lighthouse at Kingsland Point Park. It looks quite majestic in the wintertime. There is plenty of parking, and you won't have to walk far to snap some great pictures. A brief stroll on the trail will yield some great views of the Tappan Zee Bridge as well.
- Doodletown - Palisades Interstate Pkwy, Bear Mountain, NY 10911
For some great views of nature, this isolated, abandoned village is a popular destination for hiking, bird watching, and snapping beautiful pictures. Doodletown is now a part of Bear Mountain State Park and has all the makings of a real ghost town. Doodletown was occupied for more than 200 years but was abandoned in the 1960s. You can get some great spooky cemetery pictures against a snowy background when you visit this winter.
- Piermont Pier - Ferry Rd, Piermont, NY 10968
A walk down the 4,000 foot long Piermont Pier gives you the opportunity to take in beautiful views of the Hudson River from all sides. The pier was hand-built in the 1800s and during WWII served as a loading dock for many troops going off to war. After you take a walk and snap some pics, you'll also find some great local shops and restaurants back on the mainland. You probably want to visit some Piermont homes for sale too!
