Chilly weather can affect the exterior but also the interior of your home. Here's how to make it cozier until summer.

When cooler temperatures tend to linger, you want to make your home as cozy as possible. Comfort is key after a long day at work. The last thing you want to do is worry about whether or not you will be warm when you get ready to relax. Our real estate agents recommend including some of the following things to increase your comfort and make your home as cozy as possible.

  • Oversized beanbags – Oversized beanbags, or Comfy Sacks, are big enough for adults and will allow you to get comfortable in almost any position you choose. Cuddle up with a good book and a small blanket, and you may end up taking a short nap!

  • Weighted blankets – Weighted blankets offer just the right amount of pressure to make many people feel warm and secure. They come in a range of sizes and weights, so you can choose one that best suits your individual needs.

  • Foot warmer – An electric foot warmer is the ideal addition to your home on a cool night. Foot warmers have different settings that you can adjust as your feet warm up.

  • Use warm colors – The best way to warm up a room in your home is to add warm colors. When you look at Bergen County homes for sale, look for those that have warm tones throughout. Even an accent wall with warm tones can be comforting.

  • Decorate with natural elements – Using natural elements to decorate is the best way to make them look comfy and cozy to a potential buyer. Driftwood artwork or wreaths made from real pine boughs or grapevines add a certain warmth to a room.

  • Make your fireplace your focal point – Your fireplace is the warmest spot in your room. Place a couple of chairs close enough where you can enjoy the warmth and hear the gentle pops and cracks of the flames. It's quiet and relaxing and the perfect spot to spend an evening with your loved ones.

  • Add extra pillows – Add a few extra pillows on your couch or loveseat. Grab a blanket and lean back while you read a book or watch your favorite television show. Extra pillows can make your couch more comfortable. Add a few blankets, and you have your own nest of coziness.

  • Hang heavier curtains – Windows, even though they are properly sealed, can still let in a little cold air. Hang heavier curtains to keep the cold air out of your warm home. Just like a weighted blanket, heavy curtains can provide a sense of comfort

  • Create a reading nook – There is nothing more comforting than a small space that is uniquely your own. A comfy chair, warm blanket, and ambient lighting create the perfect space for reading a book and relaxing for a little while. Escape to another world with a good book!

When you want to make your home a little more comfortable and cozy, contact our agents to learn more about enhancing your comfort zone. We understand your home is your castle, and we want to help you make it as comfortable and cozy as possible, especially on those cool nights.
