  • DeWint HouseDeWint House was built in 1700 by Johannes DeWint. It is the oldest building in Rockland County, dating back to the Revolutionary War. Twice General George Washington stayed at the house and used the home as a base of operations during the final years of the conflict. The property has been restored and looks much the same as it did over 250 years ago. You can even look over many of the local archaeological finds from the area.

  • Philipsburg ManorPhilipsburg Manor was a large trading complex in 1750. It included a large gristmill and was operated by several slaves, including Caesar. As a slave, it was his job to operate the mill and keep the process in motion. Today the Manor house still stands in memory of all those who worked and toiled there. Spend some time at the activity center and find out what life was like almost 275 years ago.

  • Fort Montgomery State Historic Site – Fort Montgomery played an integral role in the Revolutionary War as both sides fought to maintain control of the Hudson River. The Fort Montgomery State Historic Site gives visitors an inside look at what the war was really like. If you have been looking at Rockland County homes for sale, visit Fort Montgomery and take a good look around. It's a great place to explore.

  • Westervelt Thomas Barn – Moved from its original location to just northwest of the famous Demarest House, the Westervelt Thomas Barn houses many farm implements and household items from times long past. You can see the bells from both the Washington Academy and the old area Court House. Touring Bergen County homes for sale can make for a long day. Stop at the barn and take a tour. You will get to step back into a much simpler time.

  • The HermitageThe Hermitage was a home owned by the family of Theodosia Barlow and her husband James Prevost. George Washington and his troops stayed in the home during the Revolutionary War. Theodosia later married Aaron Burr after her first husband died. The property has extensive historical significance and was known to be a stopping place for both military and political figures. The property has been beautifully restored and now contains many historical items from the past.
