It's a lot easier to learn when you're having fun! If you're a parent, then surely you've found this to be true for your kids. The good news is that the Hudson Valley is home to a wide variety of museums, nature centers, and other destinations where the whole family can enjoy learning in a fun, interactive environment. The Mid-Hudson Discovery Museum has a wide variety of exhibits tailored toward kids. There are interactive games related to both history and science. One example is the Science Revealed station, where kids can engage in hands-on activities to learn about magnetism, motion, and forces.
The Mid-Hudson Museum is open Tuesday-Sunday, and tickets are $14.50 for adults and children. The third Sunday of every month is Family Free Night, and all ages can enjoy free admission from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. Hands-on exhibits even show kids how early fire solutions, such as bucket brigades, worked.

If you visit the center for a hike, be aware that dogs are not allowed on the property. Trail maps are available on the center's website, and there are plenty of options for shorter, kid-friendly hikes of 1 mile or less.
