Savor the Celebration: Stops for Tacos and Margaritas This Cinco de Mayo | Joyce Realty

Tacos, anyone? With Cinco de Mayo coming up, there's no better time to sit down with some of these spicy, savory treats and an ice-cold margarita. Our real estate agents are frequent patrons at many of the stellar Mexican restaurants operating around our New York County homes for sale. Here are some of the places around town that they recommend visiting on May 5th.

  • TacoVision – 244 E. 53rd St., New York, NY 10022
TacoVision is proud to offer the highest number of small-batch tequilas of any Midtown restaurant, clocking in at more than 100 in total. Any of these can be made into a margarita for a $3 upcharge. As for tacos, their menu includes classics like carne asada and al pastor as well as some vegan-friendly ones with veggie fillings. All taco orders come in sets of two or three, depending on the filling chosen. Diners looking for a healthier option can swap the tortilla for a lettuce wrap instead.

  • Pink Taco - 7 Times Square, New York, NY 10036
Pink Taco makes LA-style street tacos that offer a different taste and texture experience than the other restaurants on this list. Many of their taco menu items include ingredients that aren't commonly found in Mexican cuisine, such as fried shrimp, cabbage slaw, and pickled onion. Tacos here normally come three to an order, but they can be purchased individually for just $4 each on Taco Tuesdays. Margaritas are also discounted on Tuesdays, falling to just $10 for a classic drink and $11 for a frozen one.

  • Sinigual - 640 3rd Ave., New York, NY 10017
Sinigual's name means "without equal," and their food and drink certainly live up to that promise. This restaurant is one of the top Mexican eateries in New York City. Their Tacos Vampiros is one of their specialties, featuring a pair of corn or flour tortillas stuffed with your choice of chicken or skirt steak as well as fresh pico de gallo, guacamole, serrano chilies, and two kinds of cheese. You can also order steak, chicken, grilled fish, and carnitas tacos as part of their mix-and-match combination menu. Their margaritas are mixed by hand using premium tequila, fruits, and syrups for a crisp, invigorating take on an old favorite.

  • La Esquina - 114 Kenmare St., New York, NY 10012
La Esquina is famous for its Frozen Sexico Margaritas, lightly sweetened slushy-like concoctions that make great refreshments in the warm May weather. They come in both small and large sizes and can be enhanced with shots of blood orange, passionfruit, or pepino flavoring. Their tacos come in pairs and can be ordered stuffed with everything from pork, steak, and chicken to grilled fish and even avocado. Each one is paired with fresh salsa made to complement its unique flavor profile.

  • Barrio Chino - 253 Broome St., New York, NY 10002
Barrio Chino has been a fixture of NYC's Mexican food scene since 2002. You can order their tacos in plates of two or three, depending on how hungry you are. Each one comes wrapped in a handmade corn tortilla with fresh salsa on the side. Their margaritas come in more than half a dozen summery flavors, including watermelon, strawberry, and habanero grapefruit. Upgrade them with top-shelf tequila for a $2 upcharge to create an indulgent drink you might even enjoy more than your meal.

You'll have easy access to all of these Mexican restaurants and many more when you live in NYC. Contact us today and let our team know how we can help you find your new home in the Big Apple.
