Wintertime Activities to Enjoy in Rockland County
There are few things more invigorating than getting some good exercise in the cold, winter air. Whether you're skating, skiing, playing hockey, or just hiking, it's not really winter until you've gotten out into the snow or onto the ice. There are plenty of great places to enjoy some wintertime activities near Rockland County homes for sale. Here are a few of our favorites.
Bear Mountain Rink - Tomkins Cove, NY

On weekends and holidays throughout the winter, Bear Mountain Rink is open for public skating. The large outdoor rink has multiple sessions throughout the day, each lasting an hour and a half. For just $5 per person, you can skate to your heart's content.
They also offer:
- Skate rentals
- Skate sharpening
- Skating lessons
Plus, the rink can be rented for private parties. For public skating, reservations aren't available in advance or online, so just grab your family and your skates and head over whenever you feel like some time on the ice.
Palisades Center Ice Rink - West Nyack, NY

If you want to get better at skating and winter sports, head to Palisades Center Ice Rink. Located on the fourth floor of the Palisades Center mall, near West Nyack homes for sale, they offer private coaches for both skating and hockey, available for lessons and clinics. Or, if you'd rather play a casual game of pickup hockey, or just get some stick time, you can do that too—plus public skating and freestyle skating. It's one of the best places in Rockland County to hone your skating skills.

There are activities for both children and adults at Sport-O-Rama. Particularly, they have several different hockey opportunities, including:

- Rampo Saints Youth Hockey
- Foundry Adult Hockey
Plus regular open stick and puck sessions, where anyone can drop in and play. Located near Monsey homes for sale, they also have Girls Only skating on Fridays (all ages) and public skating on Sundays and Saturday nights, where the whole family can enjoy some time on the ice.
Rockland Lake State Park - Valley Cottage, NY

If you prefer your winter activities out in nature, head to Rockland Lake State Park. It's a great place for things like:
- Snowshoeing
- Cross-country skiing
- Ice fishing

Nyack Beach State Park - Nyack, NY
