Waterfront Destinations to Enjoy Around New York County | Joyce Realty

Few people can resist the serene beauty of a waterfront view. As our real estate agents will readily tell you, waterfront properties tend to sell for much more than nearby homes with less impressive views.

The good thing is, there are plenty of public spaces in New York and New Jersey where you can spend some time near the waves. Why not treat yourself to a late spring outing at one of the many waterfront views around New York County?

Soak Up the Springtime Sun at These Waterfront Parks

The Battery

Address: 22 Battery Place, New York, NY 10004

The Battery is one of the oldest and most impressive outdoor spaces near our New York County homes for sale. Located on the southern edge of Manhattan, this park welcomed immigrants to America before nearby Ellis Island was constructed in the late 19th century. You can still see the Statue of Liberty and the Ellis Island ferries from the park's shoreline today.

Aside from spectacular views of the Hudson River, this place also offers:

  • Waterside walking paths
  • Gorgeous flower gardens and landscaping
  • Many historic monuments commemorate battles and figures that played key roles in shaping the nation
  • An urban farm that grows fresh food for local non-profits and programs
  • The Bikeway, a scenic bike path
  • The Playscape, a massive playground with five zones representing different parts of the city
  • An aquatic-themed carousel

Rye Town Park

Address: 95 Dearborn Ave., Rye, NY 10580

Located right around the corner from many of our Westchester County homes for sale, Rye Town Park's bustling beach and grassy meadows make this the perfect place to spend a day out under the late spring sun. The spot features waterfront land overlooking the Long Island Sound, as well as:

  • A scenic pond
  • Paved walking paths
  • Picnic benches
  • Covered pavilions and shelters
  • Several historic bath houses

Playland Park is also right next door. You can see many of the rides in action from Rye Town Park's gardens and seashore!

Promenade Hill Park

Address: 2 Warren St., Hudson, NY 12534

Promenade Hill Park sits on the banks of the fast-flowing Hudson River that gives the city its name. It's one of the prettiest parks near our Hudson County homes for sale, offering gorgeous views of the river waters with the Catskill Mountains and Hudson-Athens Lighthouse looming in the distance. The space underwent extensive renovations back in 2022, gaining:

  • A playground with water features
  • A decorative water fountain
  • A scenic overlook
  • A plaza with amphitheater-style seating
  • Paved ADA-accessible walkways

Rockland Lake State Park

Address: 299 Rockland Lake Rd., Valley Cottage, NY 10989

Rockland Lake State Park encompasses more than 1,000 acres of mostly untamed land at the base of Hook Mountain. You can see the Hudson River from almost every part of this scenic getaway near our Rockland County homes for sale. Visitors also get to enjoy:

  • Miles of scenic hiking trails
  • Picnic areas
  • A pool with waterslides and a splash pad
  • Two 18-hole golf courses
  • Tennis and pickleball courts

Park fees are $10 per vehicle on weekends and holidays, but you can visit for free on weekdays until the end of June.

Palisades Interstate Park

Address: Palisades Interstate Highway, Alpine, NJ 07620

Palisades Interstate Park is a sprawling stretch of green space sandwiched between the Hudson River and the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Its long, vertical layout makes it great for waterside walks near our Bergen County homes for sale, and there are also a few waterfront picnic benches where you can sit and enjoy a meal by the rippling waves.

You'll also find other amenities and points of interest, including:

  • The Giant Stairs, a famous slope covered in large rocky boulders that lead to a scenic overlook
  • Multiple playgrounds
  • A waterfall
  • Fishing spots
  • Boat launches and basins for canoeing
